Abstract

This study is reveal the characteristics of Shiranish formation to elucidate the sedimentological properties Ain Zalah and Butmah Oil fields northwest in Iraq from wells Az-24, Az-29, But-15. The studied rocks are consist of limestone and marly limestone.
The microfacies are classified into: Lime mudstone, Lime wackstone and Lim packstone. These microfacies are divided into several submicrofacies according to their components. The depositional environment for the formation is identified which extend from the Shelf-Slop (Fz-5, Fz-4, Fz-3, Fz-2).
